Our Commitment to the Environment

At R & L Slaughter, we recognise the importance of understanding and reducing the environmental impact of our business. As an independent laboratory supplier and distributor, we are committed to operating responsibly and continually looking for practical ways to minimise waste and use resources efficiently.

Our day-to-day operations have a relatively low environmental impact, as we do not manufacture products. However, we recognise that even small changes can make a difference. We actively work to reduce fuel emissions, minimise office and packaging waste, and maximise opportunities for reuse and recycling wherever practical.

We make use of scrap paper for internal purposes before sending it for recycling, and we operate a packaging recycling initiative for the goods we supply. Where appropriate, we can also collect clean cartons and suitably rinsed containers for recycling, helping to give packaging a useful second life.

We take our responsibilities around the handling and disposal of waste seriously. Non-hazardous waste that cannot be recycled is managed through contracted waste disposal facilities, while redundant packaged chemicals are handled by licensed hazardous waste contractors to ensure they are disposed of safely and responsibly.

We also comply with the requirements surrounding the supply of ozone-depleting substances, supplying these only where permitted and for approved research or essential applications where suitable alternatives are not available.

Our environmental responsibility is an ongoing commitment. Alongside our wider Carbon Reduction Plan, we will continue to review our operations, identify opportunities for improvement and take practical steps towards a more sustainable way of doing business.
