Carbon Reduction Plan
Commitment to achieving net zero
Our Carbon Reduction Plan
At R & L Slaughter, we recognise that reducing our environmental impact is an important part of building a more sustainable future. As an independent laboratory supplier, we are committed to understanding our carbon footprint, reducing emissions where we can and continually improving the way we operate.
We have committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government’s target. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our current carbon footprint, our reduction targets and the practical steps we are taking to reduce emissions across our business.
Our baseline assessment for April 2025 to March 2026 recorded 62.15 tCO₂e across our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Since establishing this baseline, we have already taken steps to improve our efficiency, including replacing our lighting with LED alternatives and switching two company cars to electric vehicles.
Looking ahead, we plan to continue investing in a lower-carbon operation, including further electrification of our vehicle fleet, sourcing renewable electricity through a green energy tariff and expanding our measurement and reporting of relevant Scope 3 emissions.
We know that achieving net zero is a long-term journey, and we are committed to making measurable progress along the way. Our Carbon Reduction Plan provides a clear framework for that progress and reflects our commitment to operating responsibly for our customers, our people and the environment.
